Four American college professors were stabbed in a Chinese public park.

Four American college professors were stabbed in a Chinese public park.

On Monday, while the instructors were at a nearby   temple, a man with a knife attacked them.

After being stabbed by an unidentified    attacker in a Chinese public park, four US university tutors are currently being treated in a hospital.

A statement from Iowa Cornell College stated that the professors suffered injuries in a "serious incident" while visiting a park throughout the day in the northern region of Jilin.

Representative Adam Zabner of Iowa stated that his brother David was one of the four teachers hurt in what he called a stabbing-like incident.

According to China's foreign ministry, none of the injuries are potentially fatal.

According to Mr. Zabner, the group was accosted by a man brandishing a knife on Monday while they were at a nearby temple.

He reported that his brother was in the hospital recovering after being stabbed in the arm at Jilin City's Beishan Park.

He told CBS News, "He hasn't been released yet this morning, but he's doing okay."

The four teachers had been instructing "as part of a partnership with a university in China", according to Cornell College. One of the Beihua University members was with the group when they visited the park on Monday.

According to China's foreign ministry, the injured were taken right away to a hospital and given care.

Speaking for the company, Lin Jian stated that more investigation was required and declined to comment on whether the attacker was in jail.

The investigation is ongoing because this was a singular occurrence. China is regarded as one of the safest nations in the world, and it will keep taking the necessary steps to guarantee the security of visitors from other countries.

"We believe this will not damage relations with other countries," he stated.

A representative for the US State Department had earlier informed the BBC that they were aware of reports of a stabbing incident in Jilin but were unable to provide further details. There seem to be at least three persons bleeding and lying on the ground in the images that are going around.

Despite the term "foreigners Jilin" being hot on Weibo, searches for it on Tuesday yielded no results.

Instead, internet users turned to discussions under related subjects, and some were even observed requesting further details about the occurrence.

Former chief editor of China's Global Times and online pundit Hu Xijin had earlier said on Weibo that the Chinese are "typically friendly" to international guests, and that China has been receiving an increasing number of foreign visitors. The event was characterized by him as a "chance event".

Since then, the post has been deleted.

The incident has not received many reports from Chinese state media either.

According to Mr. Zabner, his brother, a doctorate candidate at Tufts University, had already been to China and was currently on his second tour there with Cornell College.

Beijing and Washington have recently attempted to reestablish people-to-people exchanges amidst tight diplomatic relations.

While Chinese diplomats claim that a travel advisory issued by the US State Department has deterred Americans from visiting China, Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced a plan to welcome 50,000 young Americans to China over the course of the next five years.
