June 21 (Reuters) - According to Arkansas State Police, a gunman opened fire at a supermarket on Friday, killing three citizens and injuring ten others, including two police officers.

In a shootout with authorities, the suspect was also hurt, Arkansas State authorities Director Mike Hagar informed reporters. The incident occurred inside the Mad Butcher store in Fordyce, a community of 3,200 people about 70 miles (112 km) south of Little Rock.

Sadly, we can report that 11 innocent bystanders were shot; three of them have already died. The gunfight resulted in the injuries of two law enforcement officers. Hagar stated, "The suspect was also shot and taken into custody. He did not explain the circumstances of the incident or take questions.

He claimed that the suspect and the injured police officers were likely to live. The injuries sustained by the civilians varied from extremely serious to non-life-threatening.

On social networking site X, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated that she had received a briefing about the incident. "I appreciate the swift and brave actions taken by law enforcement and first responders to preserve lives. "My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and everyone affected by this terrible event," the woman remarked.
