A potentially tainted batch of zopiclone, according to Cleveland Police, might "cause significant illness"

After consuming what authorities believe to be "potentially contaminated" zopiclone, a medicine used to treat sleeplessness, a man passed away.

According to Cleveland Police, the man may have taken tablets from a drug batch that was potentially tainted, which might "cause significant illness or lead to an overdose".

According to the report, North Tees General Hospital in Stockton-on-Tees received seven additional patients on Friday who were thought to have taken the pills.

A warning to drug users was issued by the force, which asked anyone with information regarding the pharmaceutical batch that they had "concerns about drugs in the community" to contact them.
